Calgarians are giving their input into the library survey in a big way! In just one day, we collected surveys from 475 people at the various events around the city.

I would love to be able to get a Calgary library card. My postal address is Calgary, but I live just outside of the city limits. The county library is in Cochrane which is a direction I never go. Any suggestions for me?
Sincerely, Marilyn Conley

Hi Marilyn,
If you live outside of the city limits, you can still use the Calgary Public Library. You have to pay a non-resident fee to make up for the taxes you don’t pay to the City of Calgary. The fee is $112 per year, but it covers all related family members living at one address. It’s still an amazing deal. The average cardholder borrows $1,750 worth of items each year. The Calgary Public Library is the best deal in town — and the best deal out of town, too.

Calgary definitely needs a monumental downtown library building to honor the importance of free exchange of ideas as an essential element of a free society.
